Products for Measuring Stress in Chemically Strengthened Glass

To measure surface stress in chemically strengthened glass, Strainoptics offers a system that complies with ASTM C1422 using a special, high-magnification version of our PS-100 polarimeter system (PS-100-HM). The ASTM International test method (www.astm.org) uses a polarimeter with a 75mm high-intensity illuminator, a 200x polarizing microscope, compensator, micrometer stage, and optional immersion cell to observe a specially prepared "slice" in cross-section. The stress pattern near the glass edge reveals both surface stress and case depth.
