A specialized reflection polarimeter for fast, accurate, and non-destructive measurement of residual stress in automotive glazing and other coated glass products.
Measure tensile and compressive stress in automotive windshields, sunroofs, and other glass products containing black ceramic bands or painted regions. The VRP-100 uses reflected polarized light to evaluate areas that cannot be measured effectively with a conventional transmission polarimeter.

Measure residual stress directly within black ceramic frit and painted regions without removing the coating.

Evaluate finished windshields, sunroofs, sidelites, and other automotive glazing without cutting or modifying the part.

Observe the surrounding edge region to quickly recognize localized stress variations and potential problem areas.

Reflection-mode sensitivity and precision are effectively twice those of comparable transmissive measurements.
A specialized reflection polarimeter for fast, accurate, and non-destructive measurement of residual stress in automotive glazing and other coated glass products.
The VRP-100 Reflection Polarimeter System provides:
– Reflection-mode measurement for black ceramic and painted glass regions
– Full-field viewing of the automotive glass edge area
– High-efficiency polarization optics
– Sénarmont analyzer with calibrated measurement scale
– Color-enhancing full-wave tint plate
– Reflective target for measuring clear glass areas
The system allows operators to measure stress within a black painted band without removing paint or producing a specially prepared sample. Measurements are read directly from the calibrated analyzer scale.
The VRP-100 can be configured with additional components for specialized automotive-glass measurements.
– Calibration gauge
– Telescope attachment for edge-compression measurement
– High-intensity illuminator for transmissive measurement
– Reflective target for clear glass regions
These options allow the system to support black-band inspection, clear-area measurement, edge-compression evaluation, and selected transmission-mode applications.
